18K White Gold and Platinum 950
I met Arthur during one of my summer dinner party at my villa/studio in Shanghai.
An imposing, towering bearded man with a warm laughter and an impressive capacity to ingest good food and drinks…
“bombance et ripaille” as our forefathers would say!
“A typical Breton indeed!”
I thought to myself, as we were drinking our way through the hot summer evening.
Arthur then contacted me, as he thought I would be the jeweler to make one of his old project ideas come true: a custom made
chevalière, inlayed with Hermiones and Celtic knots, in memory of his country and origins.
The metals chosen were 18K white gold for the mainframe and platinum 950 for the inlays details;
I then came up with an ingenious way to inlay the platinum elements inside the white gold,
even using a calculated mix of platinum dust and flux, to fix and seal these same elements in the white gold.
One month later, the statement ring was done and given to my friend Arthur, who
much appreciated my work that has been, on my side, a real pleasure to realize!
I was born in a country of icy winters and warm-hearted people, and my passion for fine armors brought me to the Montréal school of jewelry in which I started practicing techniques that were meant to make it possible to design and create some of the most intricate and beautiful armors in the world.
During an internship in the best and most respected jewelry company in Canada, Henry Birks & Sons, I got noticed by then chef d’atelier Monsieur Alain Marcel for my steady hands and raw talent.
After being employed as a polisher by Birks, I opened my fine jewelry atelier in vibrant Shanghai, where I made hundreds of clients’ engagement and wedding jewelry among others and consulted with some of the most respected companies in the world of luxury, like Piaget.
In 2009 I also started teaching the craft of designing and creating jewelry, taking my students to a professional level. As for today, my dream of fine armor design and creations still lives on…
